MOTHER HOWL

Craig Clevenger

In a bid to escape his father’s crimes, Lyle Edison, the son of a convicted serial killer, illegally obtains a new identity and moves away to start a brand-new life. Until several years later, when a seemingly chance encounter with a stranger named Icarus – an ethereal figure who appears to know Lyle’s every move – reveals there are more victims. Bodies lain undiscovered in a location that may be a little too close to home for Lyle. A revelation that threatens to jeopardize the façade Lyle has created, and his family too.

So now Lyle must make a choice: reveal his true identity for the sake of his father’s forgotten victims, and risk going to prison, or use the knowledge to his advantage and cut a deal with the FBI. Exoneration for years of fraud in exchange for the location of the undiscovered dead.

CRAIG CLEVENGER was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Southern California. He is the author of two previous novels, The Contortionist’s Handbook and Dermaphoria, which have been translated into over twenty languages. His work has appeared in such publications as The Booked Podcast Anthology and San Francisco Noir 2: The Classics, Barrelhouse Magazine and Black Clock, as well as online, including the Coachella Review and LitReactor, among others.
